SALT LAKE CITY - The Conference Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has recently acquired a new painting that is causing quite a stir among art enthusiasts and visitors
The painting, titled "Come Unto Jesus," was created by renowned artist Michael Malm and depicts Jesus Christ embracing all people that are coming to him with his arms extended to all with love and compassion in his eyes. The painting measures 9 feet by 19 feet and is prominently displayed on the second floor of the Conference Center.
According to church missionaries, the painting was commissioned to help convey the message of the church's focus on the importance of Christ's love in our lives. The image of Christ embracing people from all over the world is a powerful symbol of that message.
"We are thrilled to have this beautiful painting in our Conference Center," said Sister O’Neil a full-time missionary from Temple Square. "It is a reminder of the love that Jesus Christ has for each and every one of us, and the importance come unto him”.
The painting has already drawn a great deal of attention from visitors to the Conference Center, many of whom have been moved by its emotional power and the skillful technique used by the artist. Malm who is known for his religious-themed artwork spent several months creating the painting and has said that he was inspired by the scripture in 2 Nephi 26:33 in the Book of Mormon that says “ and he invited them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.
"My first impression that I had is that Jesus Christ loves each one of us, it doesn’t matter where we came from or how we looked, he invites me personally to come unto him,” Said Sharon Altamirano, a visitor in the Conference Center.
The painting is expected to be a permanent fixture in the Conference Center and will be seen by thousands of visitors each year. Church officials hope that it will serve as a reminder of Jesus Christ’s love for us.
